Pure biochar can also deliver several benefits to pet owners. The porous structure and sponge-like properties of biochar improve hutch and pen hygiene and animal health by absorbing moisture, reducing odours, and reducing ammonia emissions. The used bedding can be added to the compost to produce amazing compost. Biochar is used with ducks, rabbit’s guinea pigs, goats, horses, and ponies etc., just not an animal that may spend time on a couch and stain it. We were finding that about 10% biochar added to the bedding was needed but some experimentation may be required. We have used biochar with our white ducks and chickens and they are still white, they can also digest the biochar safely as it is animal standard, contains no nasties and can help improve gut health Benefits include: Reduced odours and ammonia resulting in improved air quality.
